BASL Masterclass - A Winter World Cup: Regulatory Considerations

The 2022 BASL Masterclass Series continues on Friday 28 October with ‘A Winter World Cup: Regulatory Considerations’, presented by Barry Lysaght (Sports Law Consultant and former Legal Director at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation).

The Masterclass will include the following topics:

  • A Winter World Cup: analysis of an historic bid

  • Ethics & governance: impact of Qatar 2022 on FIFA statutes and World Cup bidding process

  • Force Majeure football: COVID, Ukraine and the International Match Calendar

  • Crime and punishment: integrity, disciplinary and appeal procedures at the FIFA World Cup

  • Conflicting rights: FIFA regulations v national law

  • Ones to watch: legal flashpoints to look out for at Qatar 2022

All masterclasses in the series will be delivered online (via Zoom) to ensure maximum accessibility and attendee numbers are kept low for greater engagement with the speaker(s). Masterclasses begin at 10am and conclude at approximately 1.30pm.
