TACTIC CONNECT APPOINT NEW HEAD OF OPERATIONS

Tactic Connect (Tactic) is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Thomson as their new Head of Operations.

Andrew has been with Tactic for two years as Business Development Manager but will now take up a more overarching role within the company, overseeing the business as a whole.

Andrew is a former professional footballer, whose career spanned 17 years playing over 350 first team games with four different clubs across the Premier League to League 2, before injury forced his early and somewhat unplanned retirement from the game in 2007. This extensive career in elite sport means he is well versed in the requirements of elite athletes, both during their careers and planning for life ‘post sport’. His lived experience is invaluable when dealing with the challenges of a life in sport. He understands well the pressure to perform and complexities of a team environment, sponsorships and endorsements, the media, player transfers, contracts and of course the personal issues faced with career setbacks and injuries etc. Andrew was club and team captain during his time at Bristol Rovers and the Player Representative at Board meetings.

Since retirement from football Andrew has worked in several commercial roles, gaining experience in the skill sets needed when transitioning out of a sporting role and into the business world. He has been supporting Tactic over the past few years with player contracts and athlete development, the development and delivery of education packages and taking an active role in grass roots community organisations.

“I am thrilled to be given this opportunity by Tactic Connect. I know how challenging it can be for athletes to step outside of their comfort zone and I wish Tactic were there to support me during and after my career. Tactic offers a great range of services for individual athletes and organisations through their contract and legal support, post career and dual career planning and support, education pathways, strategic positioning and project development for community organisations. I cannot wait to get started”.

Andrew will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining and building on our fantastic existing relationships and growing the company by making new links and opportunities in the business world of sport.

Tactic Connect CEO Genevieve Gordon-Thomson said...

“Andrew has shown great promise and now as we navigate our way out of the Coronavirus pandemic he is in a position that suits his skill set and fulfils our next stage of the business cycle. We wish him every success in this role”.

Gary Stanett MBE commented...

“Andrew is an asset to Tactic and we know through his lived experience that he understands more than most the intricate challenges sport brings on and off the pitch. His involvement at this level will help develop the company and support us as we deliver on our own objectives.”
