Established by former West Ham United, Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand in 2012, the Rio Ferdinand Foundation is a registered charity that works collaboratively with young people to deliver opportunities ensuring young people are socially mobile and empowered to be independent, take control of their lives and achieve their full potential. The Rio Ferdinand Foundation portfolio of work delivers under four strategic pillars: Sport & Social Inclusion, Health & Wellbeing, Safer & Stronger Communities and Skills & Training.

Since January 2020 Tactic Connect have worked with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation to review and enhance the training offer available to participants in the programme. Our work has included reviewing current training programmes and structures within the Foundation, exploring new opportunities and courses of accreditation in sports, arts and digital training and working with programme staff to implement changes to the training offer.

From April 2020 Tactic Connect has been working alongside staff at the Rio Ferdinand Foundation to develop traineeship and apprenticeship pathways with a range of employers and industries.  Our work with the Foundation in this area is being developed with a view to upskilling and supporting young people to face the challenges presented to the economy by the Covid19 pandemic.
